New Resource Recruitment are working on behalf of a well-established business within the high-end design and manufacturing sector, with a strong reputation for delivering solutions to the premium residential market. They are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Estimator to join their commercial team. This role is critical in supporting the financial planning and successful delivery of complex, custom-made projects. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates based on technical drawings and specifications, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and ensuring project proposals are commercially viable before moving into production and installation phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate quotations from technical specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering plans
- Estimate costs for materials, labour, and equipment for bespoke projects ranging from £5k to £500k
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (sales, project managers, procurement) to clarify project requirements
- Request and compare quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure best value
- Review and interpret 2D and 3D drawings to fully understand scope and requirements
- Attend internal handover meetings to communicate approved project details and financials
- Maintain and update costing databases and quotation records
- Produce clear cost breakdowns and justifications for internal reporting
- Support post-project reviews by contributing to cost analysis and identifying improvement areas
- Contribute to process improvement, helping to refine tools, pricing methods, and workflows
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in estimating within construction, manufacturing, or high-end fit-out sectors
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings
- Confident in preparing project quotations and cost breakdowns
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of material and labour costings
- Proficient in Excel or estimating software
