Overview

We are working with a well-established FMCG manufacturing business seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the site engineering function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all plant, equipment, and facilities.

The successful candidate will lead a multi-skilled engineering team, drive maintenance excellence, and support operational performance while developing long-term capability within the engineering function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and organise the day-to-day operations of the engineering workshop and maintenance team
  • Take full responsibility for site-wide maintenance of plant, equipment, and services, ensuring high reliability and performance
  • Support production teams to ensure output and efficiency targets are consistently met
  • Plan, implement, and manage preventative and improvement maintenance programmes in line with TPM principles
  • Develop and maintain a robust spare parts and stock management system
  • Implement, monitor, and report on engineering KPIs
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with current health & safety legislation, statutory requirements, and internal procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical safety regulations and engineering compliance standards
  • Manage engineering budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and solutions
  • Propose and deliver continuous improvement initiatives, capital projects, and site investments
  • Oversee and control external contractors working on site

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Promote the reporting of near misses, hazards, and incidents

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in an Engineering Management or Maintenance Management role within FMCG or a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience developing and motivating engineering teams
  • Solid project management capability, including delivery of improvement and CAPEX projects
  • Strong commitment to health & safety, quality, and operational excellence
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with production and senior leadership teams
  • IT-literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
