Aircraft Mechanic / Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Landing Gear
Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience + Overtime + Excellent Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a specialist aerospace engineering business operating within a highly regulated aviation environment.
We're looking for an experienced Aircraft Mechanic / Aircraft Maintenance Technician with strong hands-on mechanical experience to join a growing team responsible for the overhaul, repair and maintenance of aircraft landing gear systems.

The Role
- Carry out overhaul, maintenance, repair and inspection of aircraft landing gear assemblies and components.
- Strip, clean, inspect, repair, reassemble and function test landing gear using approved maintenance data.
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults and carry out corrective actions.
- Complete dimensional inspections, wear checks and corrosion assessments using precision measuring equipment.
- Replace bearings, bushes, seals, actuators, brake components and other landing gear assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), technical publications and work instructions.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Operate specialist tooling, lifting equipment and test rigs safely and effectively.
- Work closely with inspectors, quality engineers and fellow technicians to ensure work is completed to the highest standards.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, tooling control and Health & Safety practices.
- Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to improving workshop efficiency.
- Assist with mentoring junior technicians where appropriate.
About You
- Previous hands-on aircraft maintenance experience gained within an airline, MRO, Part-145 or military aviation environment.
- Strong practical experience working on aircraft landing gear is essential and will be the most heavily weighted aspect of your application.
- Experience of landing gear overhaul, wheel and brake systems, hydraulic systems or flight control systems would be highly advantageous.
- Confident using aircraft maintenance manuals, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience carrying out fault diagnosis, inspections and component repairs.
- Good understanding of aviation quality standards and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- EASA/CAA Part-66 Licence or completed Part-66 modules.
- EWIS, Human Factors and Fuel Tank Safety training.
- Experience working on Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer or military aircraft.
- Workshop overhaul or component maintenance experience.
