A vacancy has arisen within a busy precision engineering environment due to increased workload and the retirement of a long-serving team member. This is an opportunity to join a modern, well-equipped machine shop specialising in high-precision components for a range of industries.

The role is within the Turning department and will involve working on a brand-new CNC lathe with bar feed in an air-conditioned facility.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
  • Friday: 07:30 – 13:30
  • Overtime is available depending on workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines
  • Producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Understanding and applying turning methods for efficient and stable production
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Monitoring tool wear and carrying out adjustments/replacements as required
  • Self-inspection of work in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company standards
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Supporting safe working practices at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Turner / Setter / Programmer
  • Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to independently set and operate CNC lathes to a high standard
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls (or similar CNC systems)
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Good machining knowledge and planning ability
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Reliable, well-organised, and a strong team player
  • Ability to work using own initiative with minimal supervision

Additional Information

  • Permanent position
  • Competitive salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • On-site parking available
  • Candidates must comply with Health & Safety requirements and may be subject to occupational health checks
