We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us.
Your opportunity: As the Principal ESG Program Manager, you will lead the strategic evolution of New Relic's global sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives. This high-visibility role acts as the central architect for our ESG roadmap, ensuring our environmental and social commitments are woven into the fabric of our business operations. You will demonstrate a proactive mindset by identifying emerging regulatory shifts before they impact the business and collaborating across borders to drive meaningful, measurable change.
You will serve as a lead influencer and subject matter expert, guiding cross-functional teams rather than managing a direct team of reports. Success in this role shows up as the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives for our Board of Directors and stakeholders. By fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, you will help New Relic maintain its position as a responsible leader in the SaaS industry.
What you'll do:
- Strategic Leadership: Refine and champion a long-term ESG roadmap that aligns with New Relic's core business goals, chairing governance meetings to ensure global accountability across environmental and social initiatives.
- Data Integrity & Disclosure: Lead the end-to-end collection and validation of ESG metrics, managing the production of annual disclosures and ensuring our reporting meets the high standards of frameworks like SASB, TCFD, and CDP.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams ranging from Product (Cloud Infrastructure) to Finance and HR to embed sustainable practices into our value chain and daily operations.
- Regulatory & Risk Oversight: Monitor the global landscape for evolving ESG regulations, performing gap analyses and implementing mitigation strategies to keep the organization compliant and ahead of industry benchmarks.
This role requires:
- Extensive ESG Experience: Significant professional experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility, with substantive experience operating at a senior lead or principal level.
- Program Management Mastery: A proven track record of designing and executing complex, global programs within a corporate environment.
- Framework Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and standards, such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and EcoVadis.
- SaaS Proficiency: Hands-on experience utilizing SaaS-based ESG reporting and data management tools to streamline disclosure processes.
Bonus points if you have:
- Collaborative Influence: A natural ability to build rapport and influence decision-making across diverse teams, from engineering to the Board of Directors.
- Analytical Rigor: A passion for data-driven storytelling and the ability to benchmark performance against industry peers to identify growth opportunities.
- Global Perspective: Experience navigating the nuances of ESG regulations across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in the US and EU.
- Inclusive Leadership: A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are integrated into our sustainability strategy.
