About New Reflexions / The Fitzroy Academy

The Fitzroy Academy is a New Reflexions independent school for young people with autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, complex needs and associated emotional and behavioural difficulties. The Fitzroy Academy is a brand new school near Shrewsbury, which caters for students aged 7 to 18 years.

New Reflexions 'where every child matters' are one of the leading organisations for providing specialist services across the UK. All our homes and schools are proudly rated GOOD or OUTSTANDING by Ofsted.

The school offers students a nurturing environment in which to grow, learn and develop. All of our staff are trained in Reflective Therapeutic Intervention to ensure a consistent approach to managing behaviour. This complements a structured provision along with our high expectations and individual plans to best support the learning and behaviour needs of each student as well as supporting with personal-care.

Role

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work within small classes with a class teacher, to support small groups or individuals to access bespoke learning programmes based on their developmental ages and abilities. The successful candidate need to have some experience working in a special needs environment, or educational setting. You will need to be confident and resilient in working one to one with students under teacher guidance. Further special needs training will be available for the right candidate.

Applicants should have experience of working with challenging young people, will need to demonstrate a calm, positive approach, enthusiasm, energy and plenty of patience.
