The Henslow and Evolution School is an Independent all-through school supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Located near Middletown, and in Bicton west of Shrewsbury, we provide a highly personalised, trauma-informed education for learners who require a nurturing and specialist environment.

New Reflexions is a childcare organisation dedicated to offering care, education, and therapy services to young people who have encountered trauma, leading to emotional and behavioural challenges. Specifically, the New Reflexions Children’s Residential Service provides therapeutic placements, catering to individuals up to the ages of 18 years, for both short-term and long-term placements.

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and qualified teacher to join our leadership team as Deputy Head Teacher. The successful candidate will bring:

  • A strong track record of working with vulnerable or challenging young people
  • The ability to think strategically and lead with clarity, confidence and compassion
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • A pastoral leadership style that builds trust, promotes emotional safety and strengthens engagement
  • Experience or understanding of behaviour management, attachment theory and therapeutic approaches
  • The confidence to lead the school in the Head Teacher’s absence and to inspire confidence across the staff team

Applicants with a leadership qualification (e.g., Masters, NPQH) or a willingness to work towards one are encouraged to apply.
