Be the person who makes a difference - when it matters most
Join Progress Lifeline's Emergency Home Response Team and help older and disabled people, and others who need additional support, remain safe, reassured and independent in their own homes.
This is the first Emergency Home Responder role of its kind within Progress Lifeline, offering the security of a guaranteed 40 hours per week. We're recruiting two permanent positions, with opportunities available on either our day or night rota.
Based at Sumner House in Leyland, you'll use a company van and fuel card to support customers across the local area. Our structured 12-week rolling rota offers either five 8-hour day shifts or a four-on, four-off night shift pattern, providing visibility of your working schedule well in advance.
This is a hands‑on role combining emergency response, community support and technology‑enabled care, making a real difference when people need it most.
What You’ll Do
- Respond when it matters – attend emergency call‑outs and welfare concerns, assessing situations and taking action to protect customers' safety and wellbeing.
- Help people safely – support customers following non‑injury falls using specialist lifting equipment and safe moving and handling techniques.
- Enable independence – install, maintain and collect Lifeline alarms, key safes and other telecare equipment, helping customers to live safely at home.
- Provide reassurance – offer practical support and a calm presence during situations that may be distressing for customers or their families.
- Spot and report risk – identify safeguarding, welfare and health and safety concerns and take appropriate action.
About You
You don't need to have done this exact job before. What matters most is that you are:
- Compassionate, calm and customer-focused.
- A confident communicator who can quickly build trust with customers, families and partner services.
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
- In possession of a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Able to work a flexible rota within a 24‑hour service.
- Able to obtain Enhanced DBS clearance.
Previous experience in care, healthcare, emergency response, customer service or another people‑focused environment would be beneficial, but it isn't essential.
We'll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.
Full Training Provided
We'll invest in you from day one with training in First Aid, moving and handling, specialist lifting equipment, safeguarding, risk assessment, emergency procedures and technology‑enabled care.
