About the Role
As a Transition Support Tutor at New Meaning Training (NMT) you will help young people aged 15‑25 build confidence, routine, and life skills to re‑engage with learning.
Beginning in the environment where each learner feels safest—often at home—you will progress them towards group settings and ultimately into mainstream classes or employment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small group sessions centred on lifeskills, emotional wellbeing, and learning goals.
- Plan and adapt engaging sessions tailored to individual learner needs and progression.
- Support transitions across different settings (home, group, centre).
- Maintain clear and up‑to‑date records of learner progress, attendance, and engagement.
- Collaborate with tutors and support staff on schemes of work and learning plans.
- Participate in learner onboarding, induction, and review processes.
- Develop and adapt learning resources for SEND and SEMH learners.
- Apply trauma‑informed and relational strategies to support behaviour and wellbeing.
- Understand learner needs and respond with appropriate interventions.
- Use Microsoft Office confidently for planning and reporting.
Qualifications & Training Requirements
- Level3 Award in Education & Training (AET). (Course may be completed within 3 months of starting if not already held.)
- Safeguarding & Wellbeing Training.
- Advanced Safeguarding Children (Level2).
- PREVENT Duty.
- Mental Health Awareness training.
- Experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Confidence to work independently and flexibly across different settings.
- A passion for enabling learners to build confidence and independence.
- Commitment to ongoing CPD and professional development.
