New Meaning Training (NMT) is looking for two passionate and skilled Hair & Beauty Tutors to help shape and deliver our growing vocational offer for learners aged 15–25.

This course supports young people who may not thrive in traditional education settings but flourish in hands‑on, person‑centred environments.

You’ll work across our High Wycombe and Aylesbury centres, helping learners work toward Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications while also developing core life and work skills.

This is more than a teaching role – it’s about building confidence, structure and aspirations for life beyond education.

We welcome applicants with strong Hair & Beauty industry backgrounds – especially those with experience training others in the sector.

Whether you’re stepping into teaching for the first time (we’ll support you to get qualified) or you’re an experienced educator, we’re keen to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Hair & Beauty sessions tailored to the needs, abilities, and goals of each learner.
  • Deliver high‑quality 1:1 and small‑group sessions that develop practical skills, life skills, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
  • Support learners working toward vocational qualifications through practical delivery, portfolio guidance, and clear, constructive feedback.
  • Embed Maths, English, employability, and personal development into hands‑on, learner‑centred activities.
  • Adapt your approach to support learners with a wide range of SEND, SEMH needs, and EHCP requirements.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships using trauma‑informed, relational practice.
  • Maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and engagement.
  • Support learners to progress through a flexible pathway (home, small group, class, work experience).
  • Keep accurate, up‑to‑date records of learner progress, engagement, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and high‑quality learning resources.
  • Participate in learner onboarding, induction, interviews, and review meetings.
  • Apply safeguarding policies and procedures consistently in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate and actively embed the Loving Care Approach in daily practice.

Qualifications and experience

  • Hair & Beauty industry qualifications (NVQ Level 2 or above preferred).
  • Experience supporting or mentoring young people – ideally those with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • A learner‑centred, supportive approach grounded in empathy, curiosity, and patience.
  • Confidence managing behaviour using trauma‑informed and relational strategies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to plan engaging sessions and adapt them to different learning styles and needs.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office and internal systems, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • A willingness to complete a Level 3 Education & Training qualification within 3 months (if not already held).
  • A full UK driving licence, access to a business‑insured vehicle, and willingness to travel between High Wycombe and Aylesbury.
  • Ability to work independently, including during home visits and periods of lone working.
  • A proactive commitment to own development through coaching, CPD, and meeting agreed milestones.

Benefits

  • Generous annual leave – 20 days plus bank holidays; up to 24 days with length of service.
  • Up to 10 additional “gifted” days off each year (taken during school holiday periods).
  • Pension – auto‑enrolment into The People’s Pension with 5% employee contribution and 3% employer contribution.
  • Blue Light Card and other national discount schemes (retail, food, travel, days out).
  • Administrative fee fully reimbursed.
  • Service recognition and additional annual leave for long service.
  • Gift rewards at key milestones (e. g., 5 and 10 years).
  • Wellbeing benefits – annual flu vaccination voucher, birthday gift voucher.
  • Sustainable travel schemes – Cycle to Work, Electric Vehicle scheme via Octopus Energy, green travel initiatives with rewards.
  • Supportive, values‑led workplace with a strong focus on staff wellbeing, development, and collaboration.
  • Training and CPD fully supported as part of the role.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people’s lives.

All applicants must complete our online application form and provide a current CV.
