Introduction
New Meaning Training (NMT) seeks a Construction Tutor to deliver hands‑on construction training to learners aged 16‑25.
Not a traditional classroom role – learning is built through doing, building, problem‑solving and teamwork.
We welcome experienced tutors, construction professionals, site supervisors, tradespeople and trainers who can support learners, many of whom have SEND, SEMH needs, autism, ADHD or previous negative experiences in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging construction sessions that develop confidence, employability skills and practical construction knowledge.
- Work one‑to‑one and in small groups to support learners at varying levels.
- Collaborate with the team on the scheme of work and lesson planning.
- Encourage attendance, routine and personal accountability.
- Support learners’ functional skills in Maths and English as part of their wider learning journey.
- Keep accurate records of progress, behaviour and engagement.
- Apply a trauma‑informed, relational approach to behaviour management.
- Reflect on practice and contribute to team development and CPD.
- Work with support services, parents/carers and external agencies to promote learner success.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level3 Award in Education & Training (preferred) and ideally a Certificate of Higher Education. Training can be offered to the right candidate.
- IOSH Working Safely qualification.
- Experience in education, including scheme of work and lesson plan development.
- Strong conflict management and resolution skills.
- Excellent communication to inspire and motivate young people.
- Team‑oriented, proactive attitude with the ability to work independently.
- Proven relationship‑building skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathy and understanding for young people and alignment with NMT values.
- Passion for helping learners achieve goals through adaptable learning styles.
- Strong organisational skills, flexibility to meet deadlines and learner needs.
