THE ROLE: Preparation of statutory accounts in a timely and accurate manner, including Group (IFRS), UK subsidiaries (FRS 101) – both UK and Jersey Law. Preparation of the statutory accounts for Germany (German GAAP). To manage the period end timetable & GL closing & processes. Ensures timely completion and review of the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process to support the period end close & identify financial and control risks / opportunities. Supports the development, maintenance and adherence to the finance manual/procedures across all areas of the finance department on a day-to-day basis and as new projects are launched across the business. Provides a high level of oversight and control over the group balance sheet. Ensures that the statutory reporting requirements of the Group and its subsidiaries are met in a timely and accurate manner. To manage the external audit process and coordinate the annual timetable. A key point of contact with the Group’s auditors in all technical matters concerning the consolidation and subsidiary statutory accounts. To be a technical accounting expert for the group – IFRS, UK GAAP, German GAAP, including preparation of technical papers for review. Provides ad hoc external reporting eg turnover certificates, regulatory reporting as required. Support maintenance and upgrades of the group accounting software to ensure it is fit for purpose.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: To provide supervision & direction to a team of 2 finance analysts in line with Group people policies and practices. To support the professional development of 2 direct reports through coaching and wider participation of the annual statutory accounts production. To manage Group accounting processes to support a timely and accurate monthly management & statutory accounting cycle (P&L and Balance Sheet) including IFRS 16, consolidation, inter-company, impairments and foreign currency accounting, in line with agreed reporting deadlines. Support changes to accounting standards & reporting of non-routine transactions ensuring they flow through the GL in an efficient and accurate manner. Manage process to maintain the GL structure to support business reporting requirements and new initiatives / markets. To manage the monthly balance sheet review and identify financial risks and opportunities. To identify control weaknesses, recommend improvements and escalate to ensure they are managed appropriately with cyclical internal audit review of finance key controls. Contribute to the preparation of the Group’s consolidated & subsidiary statutory accounts. Preparation and update of Group and subsidiary audit files. Managing the preparation and review of turnover certificates across the Group’s portfolio for submission to 3rd party estates management company.
WHO YOU ARE: Minimum level of education or qualifications: Qualified ACCA/ACA at least 3yrs + post qualification experience. Essential skills/knowledge: Considerable experience of financial statutory reporting for consolidated and single entity accounts. Up to date knowledge and understanding of IFRS. Experience either as an auditor or in being key point of contact for an audit in industry. Strong analytical and accounting skills with experience of establishing new accounting processes & transactions in a multi-currency and multi-national environment. Excellent communicator across all levels of organisation. Highly motivated. Able to prioritise and manage time in order to meet deadlines. Desirable Skills/knowledge: Excel, SAP 4 Hana (Finance system), Interpersonal skills, Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Ability to express complex ideas simply, combined with strong and effective presentation skills. Ability to communicate clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
