The Role

Great role for an experienced Print Designer to join our team. This role will focus on women’s and swimwear. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced and exciting environment, juggling multiple plates and having a good laugh as you do – then the New Look Design team is for you! This role offers a wide breadth of autonomy, reporting directly into the Print and Colour manager and working with a talented team. You will love trend, colour, print and pattern and be on the pulse of what’s next. Your print will inspire, from pushing trend newness and not being afraid to embrace what’s next to being comfortable with creating seasonal updates for core newness. You will put the customer requirements at the centre of your designs and deliver an offer that is commercial, yet exciting. You will support the Company Design strategy by designing and developing print artworks that are in line with current trend, customer profiles and brand direction. You will have vast experience in designing print for women’s and/or swimwear ranges. You will have experience working within retail or supply.

What you’ll be doing

  • Excellent design, print and drawing/painting skills (digital or physical).
  • Strong eye for colour, colour combinations and trend.
  • Trend is a huge focus here at New Look. You will demonstrate an excellent understanding of print/ graphic trends, using an array of sources- with influences from catwalks/ social media /street style and cultural events.
  • Work closely with product designers and buying teams to collaborate on ideas and direction.
  • Excellent spec skills- understanding of pantone system and factory ready files.
  • In-depth trend knowledge, being able to identify emerging trends and ability to influence the buying teams with your trend knowledge and commercial eye.
  • Clearly identifying key print trends from a long lead and speed to market point of view, and presenting these in a clear and exciting way to wider teams.
  • Driving new trends commercially through product ranges with the New Look brand handwriting and customer front of mind.
  • Manages the critical path from design concept through to final strike off comments/ approvals.
  • Working in synergy with Design/ Buying to build a strong fashion yet commercial range, sharing ideas and information with other product areas to ensure brand / product consistency.
  • Good influencing skills and self-belief, to ensure that newness is delivered into the range, at the correct grading in collaboration with Buying.
  • Developing the right prints at the right time, in line with the departmental design strategy to meet customer requirements.
  • Communicating effectively with all internal and external teams. Confident to feedback to direct report and suppliers on their designs, in a constructive way.
  • An excellent understanding of the New Look Customer.
  • Ongoing familiarity of the competition’s product range.
  • Challenging current ways of working and practices across departments and functions, coming up with new initiatives to benefit the whole business and implementing these.

  • Previous experience as a Print Designer (or similar) within a major retailer / department within New Look / established supplier.
