THE ROLE: The Technical Lead (TL) of an Integration Product Team provides technical leadership and guidance to the development team, making architectural decisions within established guardrails. They ensure the scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability of integration platforms and services, with a strong focus on C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure. The TL works in close partnership with the Architecture team and Engineering Manager (PM) to lead a high-performing team capable of delivering at pace. They help stakeholders understand technical complexity, enabling accurate estimation and effective capacity planning. They are a senior engineer who mentors others, collaborates across distributed teams, and works closely with Engineering leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Co-lead a cross-functional, cross-platform Product Team (squad) to become high-performing
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager (EM) and Integration Architect to make decisions on ways of working, delivery, and prioritisation
- Own the technical roadmap for integration services, aligned with wider Architecture and Engineering strategy
- Partner with the team to estimate effort and complexity for roadmap delivery
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in C#/.NET and Azure-based integration solutions
- Design and implement robust integration patterns (e.g., APIs, messaging, event-driven architectures)
- Mentor engineers and support their technical growth and understanding of integration concepts
- Remove technical blockers impacting delivery (e.g., environment access, service dependencies, pipeline issues)
- Proactively identify and manage technical debt within integration platforms
- Design scalable, resilient cloud-native solutions using Azure services (e.g., Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, Container Applications)
- Ensure high reliability and security through monitoring, alerting, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies
- Promote maintainable codebases through best practices (coding standards, reviews, modular design, documentation)

- Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET (Core/6+) for building integration services and APIs
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, including services such as: Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus / Event Grid, Azure API Management, Azure DevOps / CI-CD pipelines, Container Applications
- Experience designing and delivering integration solutions and distributed systems (REST APIs, event-driven, microservices)
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, scalability, and performance optimisation
- Experience implementing secure integration patterns, including authentication (OAuth2, OpenID Connect), encryption, and API security
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Application Insights, logging frameworks)
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, Bicep, Terraform desirable)
- Experience working with agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Good understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, DevOps, SRE, etc.)
- Experience in retail or omnichannel environments (desirable)
