THE ROLE: This is a detail-oriented role that serves as the first line of support for business users engaging with our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). You will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth access, understanding, and use of data assets—ranging from Power BI dashboards to self-service reporting in Business Objects. Working across a modern data stack—including a Databricks-based lakehouse architecture, Amperity for Customer Data Platform (CDP) enrichment, Power BI for enterprise analytics with InfoRiver writeback extension and SAP Business Objects for self-service reporting—you will be responsible for triaging data issues, supporting end-user data access, and facilitating self-service analytics. You’ll work closely with the Power BI developers and data engineering teams, ensuring feedback loops are maintained and users are empowered to make data-driven decisions. Additional hours and on call as required to fulfil duties.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Act as the first point of contact for BI-related queries and issues across tools such as Power BI, Business Objects, and Amperity.
- Build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables the identification and resolution of critical issues.
- Provide hands-on support to business users navigating dashboards, reports, and self-service tools.
- Provide targeted communication to the business in the event of batch delays.
- Support in service transition of Power BI dashboards and software.
- Triage and escalate complex issues to the second-level Data Engineering support team as appropriate, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
- Monitor BI platform health and scheduled report/dashboard refreshes.
- Support incident and request management using service desk tooling (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
- Conduct basic troubleshooting for data latency, quality, access, and performance issues.
- Provide input in regular service review meetings to monitor supplier performance.
- Manage and support user onboarding and access control to BI tools and data products, in accordance with data governance policies.
- Maintain documentation for permissions, report ownership, and data domains.
- Create and maintain end-user guidance materials (how-to guides, FAQs, video walk-throughs).
- Collaborate with BI developers, data analysts, and the data platform team to feedback user requirements, improvement areas, adoption trends and where appropriate develop and document dashboards, alerts and reports.
- Help maintain a catalog of enterprise reports and dashboards, ensuring content is accurate, documented, and aligned with business needs.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Hands-on experience with Power BI and SAP Business Objects (report usage, access troubleshooting, and sharing).
- A strong understanding of Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Experience in working with data from a database or data warehouse to provide analysis and reporting using an operational or Business Intelligence tool set.
- Excellent logical, problem solving and numeracy skills.
- Experience in a business intelligence support, service desk, or analyst role within a data-driven environment.
- Understanding of retail business processes and operations.
- Previous experience in developing and maintaining business intelligence application solutions (desirable).
- Broad understanding of emerging technologies within the business intelligence and analytics space (desirable).
