The Role: As an Assistant Merchandiser, you’ll help ensure our product offer truly reflects what our customers want. Working closely with the Merchandiser, you’ll support in driving sales and profitability by maintaining the right stock levels across all regions and channels. You’ll play a key role in daily trade analysis, future sales planning and range building and you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Buying team to keep everything on track against the Critical Path. You’ll also support the development of junior team members and help create a high-performing, collaborative team. When needed, you’ll confidently step in to deputise for the Merchandiser or Senior Merchandiser.

What you’ll be doing:

Your key responsibilities will be to support the Merchandiser or Senior Merchandiser in the smooth running of the department as well as maximising sales opportunities and profit potential whilst minimising markdown spend.

  • Manage the in-season trading of the marketing group
  • Use the range plan sign off and marketing group KPIs to effectively manage in season trading
  • Manage option count by store category
  • Support Merchandiser with sales stock and OTB forecasting
  • Management of new and repeat orders
  • Review performance by profit block/key styles
  • Review and manage line monitors
  • Assess under and over performing lines
  • Review and implement markdown and promotional spend
  • Mid week and daily sales availability
  • Undertake ad hoc analysis of performance
  • Complete lessons learnt analysis, end of month, end of quarter, end of half
  • Manage stock flow and stock levels
  • Review actual v planned stock levels on a (minimum) rolling quarterly basis
  • Monitor stock commitment and intake phasing
  • Weekly commitment and distribution review

Who you are:

  • Trade analysis experience (ROS, WSSI, sell-through, stock cover).
  • Range planning (option counts, phasing, forecasting).
  • Stock management (OTB awareness, intake tracking, allocations).
  • Systems proficiency (WSSI/planning tools, Excel pivots & lookups).

Behavioural Skills:

  • Commercially curious – always thinking customer and sales impact.
  • Analytical mindset – confident interpreting data trends.
  • Detail-focused – consistent accuracy in numbers and admin.
