The Role

Design is where it all begins. We’re looking for a passionate, driven Assistant Designer with a positive, can‑do attitude to join our team. Always tuned into the latest trends, you’ll bring fresh ideas, help shape exciting new products, and have a keen eye for what feels relevant and inspiring for our customer. Working closely with the wider design team, no two days are ever the same. From trend research and sourcing to preparing presentations, sketching, and supporting range development, you’ll play a key role in bringing new ideas to life.

What you’ll be doing

  • Strong research and sourcing skills with an understanding of the New Look customer.
  • Identify emerging trends and how they are relevant for our customer.
  • Super‑organized with initiative to implement new ways of working within the Design Team to streamline admin tasks.
  • Responsible for sample management within the design team, including inputting into PLM, organising and keeping track of samples within the business.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, and a willingness to learn AI tools.
  • Strong hand sketching and/or illustrator sketches.
  • Strong eye and knowledge of building trend boards, catwalk packs and new‑in reports.
  • Willingness and eagerness to listen, learn and grow.
  • Ask questions and gain insight from those around you.
  • Build relationships with wider teams such as buying and merch.
  • Show a positive can‑do attitude.

Who you are

  • Previous experience as a Design Assistant/Assistant Designer within a high‑street retailer or supplier preferable.
  • Fashion qualification or another degree desirable.
  • PC / Mac literate – Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, Word, Adobe Suite.
  • Technical skills using a mix of hand sketching, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Speed and proficiency of design work.
  • Identification and interpretation of key trends in line with customer profiles.
