The Studio: We are a team of creative people that make things happen and strive to give our New Look customers the best online shopping experience. The Studio is such a crucial part of the customer’s digital journey - bringing the New Look product to life in the best way possible. We show our customers how to wear our product in an aspirational way, referencing the latest fashion trends and listening to our customer’s needs and lifestyle.
The Role: The Photographer is responsible for producing photography assets for the New Look product pages, ensuring that all images are consistent, delivered to the highest standard and follow the agreed brand guidelines. The Photographer is a key role in supporting the Photography Manager in the daily running of the New Look Studio ensuring all shoots are running smoothly whilst producing imagery to the highest standard in line with the New Look brand voice.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Shoot all products across fashion (kids, men’s, women’s) and still life in a timely manner and within the New Look creative art direction and following product matrix.
- Review that day’s rail with the onset creative team - work with the Art Director to agree the “look / feel and direction” for the day.
- Feedback to styling through the shoot day where required if the product needs to be “fixed” such as model movement causing product to become messy and unflattering.
- Working with the AD - direct the model on your set to deliver the agreed “look and feel / persona.
- Editing and selecting images through Capture One - ensuring the best selection of images are processed and in a timely manner throughout the day.
- Work with the stylist and models to direct the shoot to ensure the best possible images are taken to show the product in the best possible way to maximise sales.
- Setting up lighting and backgrounds for a variety of different shoots.
- Working on a number of different shoot briefs and coupling suitable poses and lighting styles for each upcoming trend.
- Ensure all daily shoot targets are met and to the highest standard, keeping good pace and a balanced studio atmosphere in fast paced situations.
- Perform quality control and lights and darks on all images selected before being sent to retouch.
- Ensure images are high quality and consistent in colour and styling using Capture One.
- Maintain crop size, colour profile and file size specification guidelines.
- Meeting agreed targets and daily/weekly deadlines.
- Manage process of product images on shoot day, in an organised manner. Maintain digital photo assets and structure to be archived or accessible easily.
- Prepare shoot set up and check daily that all equipment is functioning, testing appropriate lighting, on product type and flagging any issues to the Photography Manager or Studio Manager as suitable.
- Responsible for the maintenance of studio equipment and props.
- Review competitor website photography to ensure that New Look are always best in class in each product category.
- Oversee new freelance photographers to ensure that they are following the NL guidelines.
- Work with the shoot team to ensure that the hair / make up and styling are maintained at a suitably high standard in each shot and touched up as required through the day.
- Communicate to the management team any challenges in being able to deliver the daily photography targets.
- Communicate to the studio team by sharing any feedback on new models or trends.
- Work with Freelancers to develop skills and continually be open to suggestions to improve our work flow and imagery.
- Produce industry leading photography.
- Work with the styling team to develop new ideas and processes.
- Ad hoc projects as required including creative and brand shoots.
WHO YOU ARE:
- An expert knowledge of photography, retouching and lighting techniques is essential.
- An extremely high competence of using Photoshop & Capture One.
- General skills in graphic design preferred.
- Confidence in training others on photographic techniques.
- High competence using MAC Operating systems.
- Experience working within a large creative studio environment.
- Thorough understanding of current trends and lighting techniques.
- Forward thinking, innovative & proactive in approach of all projects.
- Superior planning, workload management and organisational capabilities.
- Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving and presentation skills.
- Creative flair and knowledge, producing innovative ideas and solutions.
- A strong communicator and listener.
