New Line Learning Academy is seeking an exceptional Associate Assistant Headteacher – SENDCo to join our Senior Leadership Team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and passionate leader to shape and drive our vision for inclusion, ensuring that every student with SEND receives the support, challenge and opportunities they need to thrive.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the Academy, playing a pivotal role in improving outcomes, wellbeing and aspirations for our students. The school is implementing an innovative new curriculum model from September 2026, designed to be ambitious, inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs of all learners. Across Key Stages 3 and 4, students will follow personalised pathways that maintain access to a broad and balanced curriculum while providing targeted support for those with SEND, literacy, numeracy and SEMH needs. The model places a strong emphasis on inclusion, equity and high aspirations, ensuring that all students can access appropriate interventions, therapeutic support and personalised learning opportunities.

The SENDCo will be pivotal in driving this change, providing professional leadership and guidance to colleagues, promoting high-quality teaching and learning, and ensuring resources are deployed effectively to meet the needs of all learners.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the Academy.
  • Improve outcomes, wellbeing and aspirations for students with SEND.
  • Drive the implementation of the new curriculum model, ensuring inclusion.
  • Secure positive outcomes for young people with SEND.
  • Coach and mentor staff to promote high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Oversee identification, tracking and monitoring of SEND students.
  • Implement effective interventions and manage relationships with external agencies, families and staff.
  • Lead and develop a dedicated team of experienced Teaching Assistants, fostering a collaborative culture focused on student success.
Role Details

There is currently no teaching commitment for the SENDCo; however, a teaching allocation could be considered for the right candidate.

Qualifications
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have recent and relevant teaching experience.
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or be working towards the qualification (or have equivalent experience).
  • Have a strong understanding of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and statutory guidance.
  • Demonstrate experience of working effectively with external agencies and stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Show commitment to achieving the very best outcomes for every student.
