New Leaf Search has partnered with an Asset Finance specialist in its search for an Underwriter. Excellent salary, bonus and benefits. Location: UK, Birmingham / Midlands (Hybrid).
The Role
- Support the group underwriting function, delivering risk-based credit assessment across incoming proposals while ensuring strong governance, sound commercial judgement and consistent decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver risk-based assessment of incoming proposals from Group companies.
- Make underwriting decisions using analytical tools including credit searches, financial accounts and cashflow analysis.
- Analyse large volumes of financial and commercial information to assess risk exposure.
- Clearly justify decisions and provide structured feedback to Sales and Support teams.
- Assist in preparation and presentation of Credit Papers to senior stakeholders.
- Support new initiatives, pilot schemes and process improvements.
- Participate in testing and embedding new systems and underwriting procedures.
- Assist with post-payout deal audits and provide recommendations where required.
- Process financial documentation and maintain efficient workflow using internal systems and MS Office tools.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Complete mandatory training and embed conduct rules in daily activities.
- Support continuous improvement and professional development within the underwriting function.
Candidate Profile
- Experience within underwriting or junior underwriting in financial services, ideally asset finance.
- Strong analytical capability with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret financial statements, cashflows and credit risk indicators.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Organised, adaptable and able to manage changing workloads.
- Strong Microsoft Office and systems capability.
