Help shape the future of a charity transforming the lives of young people experiencing homelessness. Every year, thousands of young people in London find themselves homeless, unsupported and unsafe. For almost 60 years, New Horizon Youth Centre has been there when they have nowhere else to turn, providing safety, support and opportunities to build a brighter future.
Today, New Horizon is entering an exciting new chapter. Led by an excellent board, with a newly appointed CEO and an ambitious five-year strategy underway, the charity is strengthening its services, investing in its people and culture, amplifying youth voice, and growing its influence on youth homelessness across London and beyond.
We are seeking three new Trustees who can bring strategic expertise, constructive challenge and a shared commitment to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to thrive. Whether your experience comes from the charity, public or private sector, we are keen to hear from individuals who share our values and passion for supporting young people.
The Trustee Opportunities:
- Trustee & Chair, Audit and Risk Committee: Senior leader with experience in audit, risk, compliance or governance, able to provide strategic oversight of organisational risk, assurance and effective governance. Previous committee or board experience is desirable, alongside a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
- Trustee & Chair, Diversity and Organisational Development Committee: Senior HR, people, organisational development or HR leadership with strong EDI experience, shaping organisational culture, workforce strategy and inclusive organisations.
- Trustee & Member, Finance Committee: Strategic financially qualified leader (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience of financial planning, governance and organisational sustainability, ideally including oversight of estates.
You do not need to be an expert in youth homelessness. What matters most is a genuine commitment to young people and a willingness to contribute your expertise to support the organisation's mission.
Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: New Horizon Youth Centre is committed to recognising and valuing difference, ensuring fairness and equity, and tackling disadvantage wherever possible. We believe diversity, inclusion and anti-racism are fundamental to achieving our mission and creating an organisation where young people, staff and trustees can thrive.
We recognise that people can face barriers because of their ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality, religion, socio-economic background or personal circumstances, and we are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process for all candidates.
Time Commitment & Location: Quarterly Board meetings (6pm-8pm) in person London, King’s Cross. Membership of one Board committee - meeting quarterly online, an annual Board away day, occasional events and opportunities to engage with staff and young people.
