About the Role
New Heights School provides educational opportunities for pupils who have been, or who are at risk of being, permanently excluded. The school serves the whole city and is a key resource in supporting vulnerable pupils from partner primary and secondary schools.
We are seeking to appoint a well-organised, professional and resilient Business & Operations Administrator to provide high-quality finance, HR, reception and operational administrative support across the school. This is a permanent, four-day-per-week role, with the working days to be agreed with the successful candidate.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be an important member of the Business Operations Team. The role will include business and finance administration, supplier communication, parent/carer and visitor enquiries, staff administration support, records management, general office support and agreed reception/main office administrative support for the school’s KS2 provision as part of the wider whole-school business support function.
The successful candidate will need to manage a varied workload, combine routine duties with responsive day-to-day tasks, work well under pressure and use their own initiative. They will demonstrate a calm and professional manner when communicating with pupils, parents/carers, staff, suppliers, visitors and external agencies.
Strong administrative and digital skills are essential. Experience of Excel, Google Workspace, finance software or a school Management Information System would be an advantage, although training will be provided on the school’s systems.
We can offer:
- Opportunities for high-quality professional development
- Supportive, proactive governors and senior leaders
- An innovative and committed staff team with a wide range of skills and experience
- The opportunity to contribute to an inclusive school that works closely with local schools and partners across the city
- A varied and important role within a busy school environment
Safer recruitment

The successful candidate will be subject to all relevant pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, children’s barred list check where applicable, evidence of the right to work in the UK, satisfactory references, medical clearance and verification of qualifications.
As part of our safer recruitment process, online searches may be carried out on shortlisted candidates as part of due diligence checks.
All staff are expected to adhere to the school’s Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and all other relevant school policies and procedures.
This post is subject to a probationary period of six months.
