New Hall School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of History (maternity cover) to join the team. The role involves teaching students across Years 7‑13, and is suitable for both newly qualified and more experienced teachers. The position may lead to a permanent appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students.
- Promote good progress and outcomes for students.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding.
- Plan and deliver well‑structured lessons.
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students, including support for EAL, SEND and MAT pupils.
- Use assessment accurately and productively.
- Know how to assess relevant subject and curriculum areas, including formative and summative assessment.
- Mark books to a high standard, ensuring regular and constructive feedback.
- Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Maintain and develop a sound knowledge of the subject area, including keeping up with developments and bringing INSET needs and opportunities to the relevant people.
- Deliver and communicate clearly the requirements of the examination specification and the Department’s schemes of work, including coursework requirements.
- Take a significant role in the History co‑curricular programme and play an active part in history trips and events.
