New Hall School is seeking to appoint a Student Support Manager for students in the Middle Division (Years 7–8). This role is central to the School’s outstanding pastoral provision, with a key focus on supporting the emotional and social development of students aged 11‑13. Working closely with the Head of Middle Division, and the wider pastoral team, the Student Support Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the effective delivery of high‑quality care, guidance and wellbeing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for student and parent pastoral enquiries, ensuring a professional and timely response.
  • Support the Head of Middle Division in coordinating pastoral care and student wellbeing.
  • Assist with the transition of students into Year 7 and ensure a smooth transition for new students.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, tutors and boarding staff to support students and address pastoral concerns.
  • Assist in the organisation and administration of pastoral meetings and student‑voice meetings, including preparing agendas and recording actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date student records, including pastoral notes and communications.
  • Support the management of student behaviour and welfare matters, including follow‑up actions and communication with parents.
  • Coordinate communications to students and staff regarding pastoral updates, including notices and timetable changes.
  • Maintain a visible presence during the school day, supporting students and promoting a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Attend events relevant to the role, including transition events.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Clear understanding of and commitment to Catholic education.
  • Education to A Level standard (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a school or similar educational environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy, discretion and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Clear understanding of the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children.
  • Commitment to supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care.
  • Calm, approachable and empathetic manner when working with young people.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
  • Positive, proactive and flexible attitude.
