Minibus Driver at New Hall School
Location: The Avenue, Boreham, Chelmsford, Essex, CM3 3HS
Contract Type: Term Time Only
Salary: £13,506.00 - £14,680.00 Annually (FTE). The salary for this post is £13,506pa (23 hours per week) or £14,680pa (25 hours per week); FTE £30,906pa (S6).
Closing Date: 12:00pm, 23 February 2026. Start Date: March 2026 onwards. Interviews: Week commencing Monday 23 February 2026.

Working patterns
- Option 1: 6.15am-8.30am and 5.15pm-7.30pm, Monday-Thursday; 6.15am-8.30am and 4.00pm-6.15pm, Friday (23 hours per week in term time).
- Option 2: 6.00am-8.30am and 5.15pm-7.45pm, Monday-Thursday; 6.00am-8.30am and 4.00pm-6.30pm, Friday (25 hours per week in term time).
Key responsibilities
- Operate one of the School’s designated bus routes, collecting students from agreed pick-up points and delivering them safely to School in the mornings.
- Collect students from School in the afternoons and transport them safely to designated drop-off points.
- Drive safely and responsibly in accordance with road traffic legislation and School policies, including Health & Safety guidelines for Minibus Drivers.
- Keep the minibus clean and in good condition, internally and externally.
- Ensure all signage inside the minibus is properly attached and maintained.
- Carry out regular visual inspections of the vehicle (tyres, lights, oil, water, fuel).
- Report promptly any defects or maintenance requirements to the Head of Operations.
- Manage student behaviour to maintain a calm, safe and respectful environment.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students and parents.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of students in line with the School’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
- Report any concerns regarding student safety to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Principal.

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming and supportive community, with a staff of around 300. Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue; 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow. Nearby airports include London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
