At New Gorbals Housing Association, our purpose goes beyond providing high-quality homes. We are committed to supporting our tenants and communities to thrive, tackling inequality, reducing poverty and helping people sustain successful tenancies.

As a trusted adviser and advocate, you will work directly with tenants and community members, providing specialist welfare benefits advice, support with claims, mandatory reconsiderations and appeals, and representation where appropriate. You will play a key role in helping people improve their financial circumstances and maintain stable, sustainable tenancies.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Housing & Operations, you will:
- Provide specialist welfare rights advice covering benefits administered by the Department for Work and Pensions and Social Security Scotland.
- Support clients with benefit applications, challenges, mandatory reconsiderations and appeals.
- Manage a varied and complex caseload through the AdvicePro case management system.
- Deliver services from our office, within tenants' homes and throughout the community.
- Work closely with Housing Services colleagues to support tenancy sustainment and prevent tenancy failure.
- Develop strong partnerships with organisations such as Glasgow City Council, DWP, Social Security Scotland and other support agencies.
- Collect, analyse and report performance information to demonstrate outcomes and service impact.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives that place tenants and communities at the centre of everything we do.
About You
- We are looking for someone who shares our values and has the knowledge, skills and determination to make a positive difference. You will have:
- Experience delivering welfare rights advice or a comparable advice service.
- A sound understanding of welfare benefits legislation and its practical application.
- Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and households with complex needs.
- The ability to manage a demanding caseload while working independently.
- Excellent communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and IT skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
- Degree-level education or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
