New Forest District Council is one of the largest non‑unitary councils in the UK. Based in Hampshire, we receive over 16 million visitors each year to the National Park, surrounding towns and villages, and our beaches stretch along the 40‑mile coastline. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our team and positively impact the presentation, look, feel and sustainable practices across the beautiful New Forest landscapes, towns, and coast.
In this role you will lead a frontline team, shaping sustainable and cost‑efficient services as part of the emerging NFDC Litter Strategy and the ongoing investment in inclusive facilities. You will help change people’s behaviours and attitudes to litter and its environmental impact. You will lead a team that delivers customer‑facing services for residents and visitors, promoting the Forest and driving the local tourism economy by creating a clean and healthy first impression. The role includes working with internal and external departments, partners and agencies to develop, maintain and build strong relationships. It will be varied, interesting and rewarding.
Qualifications and Profile
- Experience in a similar operational role
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
- Skill and ability to prioritise proactive and reactive workloads to meet deadlines
- Understanding of legislation relevant to the sector
- Strong commitment to the safety and welfare of staff
- Commitment to environmental improvements
- Commitment to customer service
- Relevant IT skills – MS 365, Forms, Planner, Lists, etc.
- Able to work flexibly in an office environment and on site(s)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
