Overview

Do you want to help us shape the future of waste and recycling for the New Forest? Are you passionate about recycling more and wasting less? An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Waste and Recycling Advisor – Fixed term to join our waste and recycling team. You will lead a team of 3 Waste and Recycling Advisors, and together you will help guide and support our residents through the forthcoming waste and recycling service changes for 2025 and 2026.

Are you good at working with and helping people? You will be able to engage, and build excellent relationships with our residents, businesses, and other key stakeholders, providing information that will help drive behaviour change. This will involve answering customer enquiries, processing requests, and resolving issues. We must ensure our residents are fully informed and able to participate in the new recycling initiatives and you will be pivotal to the success of the service changes and the anticipated increase in recycling across the district.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and monitor the work of 3 Waste and Recycling Advisors, ensuring appropriate workloads and desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Support with training for waste advisors, monitor customer enquiry levels, and report to the senior team.
  • Act as the public facing representative for service change enquiries and support waste advisors with face-to-face visits to properties.
  • Engage with residents, businesses and other stakeholders to provide information that drives behaviour change and participation in new recycling initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of GCSE education including Maths and English to grade C or equivalent; confident communicator (written, verbal, and face to face).
  • Experience of leading a small team and working within the community; strong commitment to customer care.
  • It is essential to drive and have access to your own vehicle.
