We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Science or Maths Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team. Forest Edge School is a very small independent school in Sandown with an excellent reputation for working with vulnerable students with ASD, attachment difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs and challenging behaviours. Our students benefit from small class/group sizes. High staff ratios allow us to provide highly bespoke and individualised educational provision to our students.
The ability to also teach another subject would be an advantage.
There is the opportunity to combine this teaching role with SENDCo responsibilities. For this, holding the NASENCO qualification would be advantageous; however, we would support the right candidate with training opportunities to gain this qualification if successful at interview.
The successful candidate will:
- Plan and deliver lessons whilst following the national curriculum.
- Have a desire to work in an SEN setting.
- Be approachable, flexible and adaptable, with a desire to make a difference in our students' lives.
- Have the capability for supporting children with social and emotional behavioural needs within an educational environment.
- Possess effective communication and relationship building skills.
- Be passionate about providing quality education care and support to young people.
- To intervene physically with our students, when required, using Team Teach trained techniques when de-escalation strategies have failed (full training will be provided).
- Demonstrate analytical thinking to improve the quality of pupils' learning.
- Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom engage and motivate pupils.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Based in the UK and do not require sponsorship.
- QTS or equivalent required.
- Proven teaching experience.
- Desire to work in an SEN setting.
- Effective communication skills and build good relationships.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Full UK driving licence – desirable.
