Location: Romsey/Bartley

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated KS2 class teacher to join our friendly and supportive staff team within our Alternative Provision. Our AP provides an adaptive and highly individualised full-school curriculum to young people who, for various reasons, are not yet ready to engage in a full-time school placement. They may be autistic, might have attachment difficulties, or have social, emotional, and mental health needs with associated challenging behaviours. Our teachers are supported to be adaptive and reactive to the needs of the young person while still maintaining high expectations of progress.

It is an exciting time to join the team, as the AP is a newly registered OFSTED special school, which will enable us to support our young people full-time and ensure they receive the best support to progress to a suitable permanent school placement. The AP operates across two sites, both located on farms. Our young people gain from access to excellent facilities, including extensive woodland, allotments, a water sport lake, and an indoor climbing wall, as well as high-quality indoor learning spaces. Our exceptionally small class sizes and high staff ratios enable us to provide highly individualised, targeted support.

Responsibilities

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with proven potential to secure high standards of learning with young people with specific educational needs.
  • Be approachable, driven and passionate, with a desire to make a difference in our students' lives.
  • Be able to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Have high expectations of all young people and an ability to inspire and motivate them to achieve.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a commitment to their own professional development.
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils and colleagues.
  • Have a creative, multi-sensory and dynamic approach towards teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of early Maths and English teaching and learning.
  • Read Write Inc trained, or a reading programme equivalent.
  • Have knowledge and experience of working with children with SEN, as part of classroom practice.

Qualifications and requirements

  • QTS or equivalent required.
  • Full UK driving licence, and be willing to drive as part of the role to facilitate off-site learning opportunities.
