What is the role
We are currently on the hunt for an experienced Systems Engineer with a background working for an IT Systems Integrator or Managed Service Provider. Working from our Newcastle office, full-time (38 hours) Monday to Friday, the role will be responsible for providing technical solutions for our clients, including problem resolution, product installation, configuration, testing and product/service recommendations. With our front-line team taking care of triaging, you will service clients suited to your professional skillset, ensuring a positive experience for both you and the client.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Provide remote and onsite IT support
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/network issues
- Maintain system performance, reliability, and security
- Collaborate with clients on technical needs
- Recommend technologies and assist in selection
- Create design and technical documentation
- Support junior staff and escalate issues
- Monitor logs and respond to incidents
- Liaise with vendors as needed
- Improve and automate procedures
- Expand technical skills through training
- Log activities accurately
- Participate in on-call support
- Perform other related tasks
Who we are looking for
This is a customer-facing role who will need to have excellent presentation and communication skills, as well as being highly technical. The role requires a large amount of autonomy, so a candidate who has good time-management and organisational skills will be heavily favoured. Alongside, having great communication skills and a vibrant personality, technical skills required for a successful candidate include:
- Windows Server setup, administration, support and maintenance
- Exchange Server setup, support and administration
- Remote Desktop support and administration
- Veeam support and administration
- Basic network troubleshooting – experience with basic network protocols, any Cisco router experience will be highly regarded
- Basic telephone system support – any experience highly regarded
- Experience with remote support tools – TeamViewer, Remote Desktop Manager etc.
- VMWare
- MSP experience is highly desirable
