What is the role

We are currently on the hunt for an experienced Systems Engineer with a background working for an IT Systems Integrator or Managed Service Provider. Working from our Newcastle office, full-time (38 hours) Monday to Friday, the role will be responsible for providing technical solutions for our clients, including problem resolution, product installation, configuration, testing and product/service recommendations. With our front-line team taking care of triaging, you will service clients suited to your professional skillset, ensuring a positive experience for both you and the client.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide remote and onsite IT support
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/network issues
  • Maintain system performance, reliability, and security
  • Collaborate with clients on technical needs
  • Recommend technologies and assist in selection
  • Create design and technical documentation
  • Support junior staff and escalate issues
  • Monitor logs and respond to incidents
  • Liaise with vendors as needed
  • Improve and automate procedures
  • Expand technical skills through training
  • Log activities accurately
  • Participate in on-call support
  • Perform other related tasks

Who we are looking for

This is a customer-facing role who will need to have excellent presentation and communication skills, as well as being highly technical. The role requires a large amount of autonomy, so a candidate who has good time-management and organisational skills will be heavily favoured. Alongside, having great communication skills and a vibrant personality, technical skills required for a successful candidate include:

  • Windows Server setup, administration, support and maintenance
  • Exchange Server setup, support and administration
  • Remote Desktop support and administration
  • Veeam support and administration
  • Basic network troubleshooting – experience with basic network protocols, any Cisco router experience will be highly regarded
  • Basic telephone system support – any experience highly regarded
  • Experience with remote support tools – TeamViewer, Remote Desktop Manager etc.
  • VMWare
  • MSP experience is highly desirable
