This role plays a critical part in strengthening NESI’s approach to human rights due diligence, supplier performance, and ethical trade across global supply chains. Combining data-driven insight with practical action, the role supports the identification, mitigation, and ongoing management of human rights risks, while driving continuous improvement with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Human Rights Due Diligence & Risk Management
    • Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of human rights risks across global value chains in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).
    • Develop and support implementation of risk-based action plans across key geographies and commodities.
    • Conduct and maintain human rights saliency assessments.
    • Support issue management and investigation processes, particularly where issues are identified through social audits, ensuring effective corrective action and closure.
    • Assist on other human rights projects as required.
  • Supplier Monitoring, Data & Performance Insights
    • Analyse supplier performance across ethical and social responsibility metrics to identify trends and risks.
    • Monitor and support supplier compliance with social audit requirements (e.g. Sedex/SMETA), identifying gaps and supporting remediation.
    • Lead analysis of NESI’s Sedex programme, including compliance monitoring and audit trends.
    • Analyse SAQs and SMETA audits to identify recurring issues and root causes.
    • Analyse data from other assurance schemes (ASC, GlobalG.A.P., BAP) to triangulate findings.
    • Track corrective action plans arising from audits and support closure of non-conformances.
    • Develop and maintain datasets and dashboards ensuring accuracy and usability.
    • Translate complex data into actionable insights to inform decision-making and supplier engagement.
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Prepare clear compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Support alignment with ethical standards and social audit requirements, including Sedex/SMETA compliance.
    • Contribute to annual Modern Slavery Statement preparation.
    • Support mapping of supply chain risks and vulnerabilities.
    • Stay up to date with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Internal & External Engagement
    • Build strong cross-functional relationships across the organisation.
    • Engage with suppliers and customers on expectations and performance improvements.
    • Represent the organisation in industry initiatives (e.g. Sedex, FNET).
    • Support embedding of ethical trade considerations into business decisions.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Sustainability or Social Sciences.
  • Approximately 3 years’ relevant experience with knowledge of human rights and ethical supply chains.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting, ideally within sustainability or ethical trade.
  • Experience using Sedex and analysing SMETA audits.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Passion for improving working conditions in global supply chains.
