Overview

New England Seafood International (NESI) is an importer and processor of premium fresh and frozen sustainable fish and seafood. NESI employs circa 850 people across three sites in the UK and imports a wide range of wild and farmed fish and shellfish from around the world. We are part of the Sealaska Corporation, an Alaska Native corporation formed in 1971 and owned by 26,000 Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian shareholders, who are all bloodline descendants of the first settlers to the Americas. Job Details

Job Title: Defrost Operator

Location: NESI – Grimsby

Reporting To: Operations Support Manager

Responsible For: Efficient and effective performance of all tasks given whilst on shift, consistently working to high levels of competency and conduct.

Job Purpose: Ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently, safely, and to the standards set.

Key Accountabilities

  • Use good housekeeping whilst on your shift using “clean as you go” in line with the waste flow process ensuring the areas are audit ready.
  • Ensure clean equipment is used in the area and that dirty equipment is exited in a timely manner to the dedicated locations.
  • Ensure all activities in the area are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Procedures adhering to the defrosting SOPs.
  • Ensuring that all products are of the correct quality standard and produced to the right specification, including H&G agitation.
  • Reports all Non-Conformances immediately to your supervisor.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Responsible for all aspects of defrosting.
  • Racking & deracking frozen product.
  • Ensuring correct labelling & documentation in area and throughout all defrosting procedures.
  • Responsible for Temperatures & all Traceability, reporting any non-conformities to the ops manager & technical department.
  • Safety, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Needs to be flexible regarding all aspects of your job role and give your full support to all new systems / ideas that are implemented within the company.
