New Directions are currently recruiting for a SEND Teacher to work in a specialist SEND school based in Oldham, starting as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The School

  • Provides dedicated support for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping pupils to engage positively with learning, build emotional resilience, and develop strategies to achieve their full potential.
  • Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ with Outstanding features , the school is recognised for its strong leadership, high-quality teaching, and commitment to ensuring every child succeeds.
  • Delivers an inclusive, enquiry-based curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with a wide range of additional and complex learning needs.

The Role

  • Full-time teaching role delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND, ensuring learning is accessible, meaningful, and tailored to individual EHCP targets.
  • Use a range of communication approaches, including AAC , PECS , Makaton , and visual supports where appropriate, enabling all pupils to access learning and communicate effectively.
  • Plan, assess, and adapt teaching to meet pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and sensory needs while working closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and families to promote positive outcomes.

The Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching children with SEND, SEMH, Autism, or complex learning needs. Applications are also welcomed from mainstream teachers with a passion for inclusive education and a commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs.
