Are you a passionate and resilient Teacher with a desire to support learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs? New Directions Education is recruiting a pool of dedicated Primary SEMH Teachers to work across specialist provisions in Leeds. These nurturing settings are designed to support learners who may also have additional diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or trauma-related needs. Teaching is delivered in small class sizes, enabling a highly personalised and therapeutic approach.

Requirements for this role:

  • Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Have experience working with SEMH and / or SEND learners, ideally in a primary setting
  • Use of emotional regulation strategies
  • Teach with compassion, patience, and flexibility
  • Are trained in Team Teach or similar therapeutic behaviour support approaches (desirable, not essential)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver creative lessons that engage pupils with varying levels of need
  • Build positive, trusting rapports with learners
  • Support the development of emotional regulation and positive learning behaviours
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies
  • Contribute to EHCP targets, individual learning plans, and the wider pastoral development of each learner
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom where every child can thrive
