Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? New Directions are seeking experienced PMLD Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated SEND team. This is a 1:1 support role, so experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as autism and speech & language difficulties is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored learning support for a pupil on a 1:1 basis.
- Assist in developing individual education and behaviour plans, setting challenging yet achievable goals.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, adapting interactions to meet individual needs.
- Work closely with the SENCo and Class Teacher to ensure learning is personalised and effective.
Personal Specification
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
- Strong understanding of SEND needs, including ASC and speech & language difficulties.
- Ability to deliver targeted interventions with a focus on speech and language.
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to think on your feet.
- Positive, ambitious attitude towards learning and pupil development.
