We are seeking an adaptable and knowledgeable Supply Humanities Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons across the Humanities curriculum, including History, Geography, and/or Religious Education, during the absence of permanent teaching staff. The successful candidate will ensure continuity of learning while maintaining positive classroom environments.
New Directions have on-going supply teaching jobs for Humanities Teachers in all areas. These positions are available for qualified teachers who can teach Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4) and possibly Key Stage 5 (KS5). Newly qualified teachers (NQTs) looking for teaching work should also apply.
The Humanities Teacher role may require teaching of the following subjects: art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language and English literature, history, modern languages, music, philosophy, sociology and religious studies. This role has a focus on personal and social development and pastoral care. If you have an interest in all things anthropological, a humanities teaching post may be the right role for you.
As a Humanities Teacher you’ll be expected to:
- Hold QTS status
- Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
- Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
- Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
- Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
- Maintain discipline
- Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
- Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
- Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
- Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
- Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
