Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for flexible work in local schools, with the potential to secure a long-term role? We are currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable Science Technicians to work on a supply basis across secondary schools in Conwy and Denbighshire. This is a great opportunity to support science departments with the preparation and maintenance of practical lessons, while gaining experience in a variety of school settings. For the right candidates, these placements may lead to long-term or permanent positions within supportive and well-resourced schools.
New Directions Education recruits Science Technicians to assist the biology, physics and chemistry departments within schools across the UK. You will normally work within a team of Technicians helping carry out the following tasks:
- Setting up laboratories with the necessary equipment for the lesson ahead
- Checking and testing scientific equipment
- Helping the teacher with practical demonstrations
- Interacting with pupils
- Keeping a track on chemicals and solutions
- Organising apparatus used and making sure it is stored correctly
- Observing strict Health & Safety conditions.
Candidates would ideally have a background in a school environment and have a qualification in biology, physics or chemistry to a degree (or equivalent) level.
