At New Directions, we have partnered with a fantastic local mainstream primary school setting in Smethwick, who are seeking a long-term, full-time 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 student who is autistic and non-verbal.

Previous experience working with children and/or adults who are non-verbal will be highly beneficial, but the school are keen to ensure they have hired the right individual who is patient, understanding and keen to make a positive impact on a young person’s life.

Whilst in-school experience would be ideal, we are very keen to receive applications from individuals with experience supporting people with SEND needs from roles such as residential, support and care environments.

This role will be working full-time, long-term likely until end of July 2027. This role pays a week in arrears at a PAYE rate between £92.58 to £101.22 per day dependent on the applicant’s experience and/or qualifications.

During this placement, you will be supported by the brilliant SENCo and school SLT but also our fantastic New Directions team who will be able to support you throughout!
