We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Design and Technology Teacher to join supportive secondary school environments in both long‑term and supply roles. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging students to develop creativity, problem‑solving skills, and technical knowledge within Design and Technology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high‑quality lessons
  • Assessing student progress
  • Maintaining a safe and organised workshop/classroom environment
  • Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential

Long‑term roles may also involve contributing to curriculum planning, coursework support, and departmental activities, while supply roles require flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to quickly integrate into different school settings.

The ideal candidate will possess strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management skills, and a passion for inspiring students through practical learning experiences.

We recruit Design and Technology (D&T) Teachers who are experienced or Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). Ideally you will be happy to teach anywhere from Key Stage 3 (KS3), Key Stage 4 (KS4) and possibly Key Stage 5 (KS5) in the following areas:

  • Electronics
  • Food technology
  • Graphics
  • Resistant materials
  • Systems
  • Textiles

As a Design and Technology Teacher you’ll be expected to:

  • Hold QTS status
  • Teach all areas of the school curriculum or your subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Stay up‑to‑date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
