New Directions Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic Youth Workers who are looking to gain school-based experience working with children in primary schools across Winsford. This is an ideal opportunity for youth practitioners who want to broaden their skills, gain classroom experience, and develop an understanding of the primary school environment while supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development. Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week. Due to the location of some schools, a full driving licence and access to transport would be advantageous.

Role

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers and learning support staff with learning activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour, social skills, and engagement in learning
  • Supporting children with their social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Delivering structured activities under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Observing and supporting children’s development across academic, social, and emotional areas
  • Gaining practical experience of school routines, policies, and safeguarding procedures

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people in youth work or related settings
  • A patient, adaptable, and caring approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development
  • A willingness to learn about the primary school environment and classroom practice
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
  • A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
