New Directions Education are currently looking for a Male Welsh-Speaking Learning Support Assistant to work in a primary school in Port Talbot starting September. You will be required to work 1-1 with a pupil with Additional Learning Needs. This is a full time role starting in September, working hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday. Pay rate is Β£95 per day.

We are looking for reliable and responsible individuals, who are passionate about working with children and helping them strive to make their school experience a fun and safe environment by giving them the tools to reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities will be to support the teacher in delivering lessons and activities in a safe and engaging manner, assist in the preparation of lesson plans and learning resources and encourage positive behaviour and support the teacher with classroom management.

Ideally, we ask for 3 months minimum experience working with children or a child-based qualification. We do consider candidates who have transferable skills, such as experience in social care, coaching, or nursing.

As a Welsh Speaking Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be expected to:

  • Have a good understanding of the Welsh Language
  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
  • Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
