New Directions Education is looking for kind, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work within local specialist provisions, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to help young people who may have faced challenges in their education feel understood, supported, and ready to succeed.

- Have experience or knowledge of trauma‑informed practice or therapeutic behaviour support
- Are Team‑Teach trained (or experienced in similar behaviour support approaches)
- Have a calm, patient, and empathetic nature
- Feel confident supporting behaviour in a positive and consistent way
- Genuinely care about helping young people thrive
What your role will involve:
- Supporting pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4
- Working 1:1 or with small groups, offering tailored, meaningful support
- Helping the class teacher create a structured, nurturing, and safe learning environment
- Encouraging emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement with learning
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and external professionals
