A friendly and inclusive two-form entry primary school in the Manchester area is seeking an experienced Level 2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team from September. This is a full-time, long-term role working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of SEND, with a particular focus on Autism (ASC). Experience working with non-verbal children would be highly advantageous.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism and additional needs, helping them access learning, develop communication and achieve their individual targets.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider staff team in a rewarding, long-term role where you’ll make a genuine difference every day.

Person specification

  • Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant within a primary school is essential.
  • A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of Autism is required, with previous experience supporting non-verbal pupils highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or visual timetables would be beneficial.
  • Patient, resilient and proactive, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships while promoting pupil’s confidence, independence and wellbeing.
