New Directions Education is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Science Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Leicester and surrounding areas. Whether you’re a Science graduate, an aspiring teacher, an experienced Teaching Assistant, or someone with a strong Science background looking to move into education, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Science Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping to build confidence, understanding and engagement across Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

  • Supporting students during Science lessons on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and practical experiments
  • Encouraging students to engage with learning and develop their confidence
  • Supporting pupils who may require additional academic or pastoral support
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment

We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine interest in Science and education
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children or young people in an educational, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work or similar setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, supportive and proactive approach
  • A Science‑related qualification, degree, A-Level or relevant experience would be advantageous
