New Directions Education are recruiting for a pool of Higher Level Teaching Assistants across Leeds to work within Mainstream Resource Provision settings who are seeking support for daily/long term cover. This role is a fantastic opportunity for people who are dedicated to supporting learners to thrive within the classroom and outdoor learning facilities.
We want to hear from candidates with:
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic behaviour support.
- Training in Team-Teach or other behaviour intervention methods.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification/experience.
- Strong communication skills.
Working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant can be a very rewarding but also a very demanding role. This role involves working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to deliver high-quality education for pupils with a range of needs, including Medical Needs, ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
- Support the planning, delivery, and assessment of learning activities for pupils with SEN, adapting materials and strategies as needed.
- Work alongside class teachers to deliver differentiated learning and ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
- Deliver small group interventions under the direction of SENCOs and phase leaders.
- Support the development of EHCP outcomes and contribute to reviews and meetings.
- Supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of the class teacher.
- Provide guidance and support to other teaching assistants across the setting.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and assessment processes.
