Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in primary schools across the Harrogate area.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who have experience supporting children with additional needs and are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will
- Provide dedicated support to a pupil with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and confidence.
- Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development.
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive outcomes.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to support individual learning plans.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet the needs of the learner.
- Encourage independence and participation within the classroom environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with
SEN and/or SEMH needs .
- Experience in a school, educational, youth work, care, or support setting.
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
