New Directions Education is looking for a Computer Science Teacher to work on a supply basis in secondary schools across Harrogate. This role is perfect if you’re looking for flexible teaching work, whether you’re an experienced teacher, an ECT, or simply wanting variety and better work–life balance while continuing to do what you enjoy.

Role

  • Step into local secondary schools to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and occasionally KS5, depending on the school).
  • Teach Computer Science lessons using pre‑planned work or light adaptation where needed.
  • Cover topics such as programming, algorithms, and digital skills.
  • Keep students engaged and on task throughout the day.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in a calm, positive way.
  • Work alongside friendly and supportive school staff.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification).
  • Has a good understanding of Computer Science.
  • Feels confident leading a classroom.
  • Is reliable, flexible, and professional.
  • Enjoys helping students develop their computing and problem‑solving skills.
