Job purpose: To ensure all care packages are covered with an appropriate care worker at all times. To liaise with the registered manager to ensure adequate cover for all existing and new packages to guarantee the smooth running of the care service. To assist the manager in the management of costs by ensuring working patterns are efficient and logical. To provide excellent quality care and support service to vulnerable adults and children, both at home and in the wider community. This is a 15-month fixed term position until 30 June 2027.
Main duties:
- Identify methods and systems to promote effective communication and engagement with individuals and key people.
- Contribute to the overall success of the department by contributing and attending team meetings.
- Utilise the brokerage service to maximise business opportunities.
- Ensure services are designed and reviewed to promote and maximise the achievement of the best possible outcomes for each individual.
- Develop and evaluate communication methods and systems to promote effective communication.
- Support the Registered Manager and direct care staff to ensure effective and efficient person-centred service delivery.
- Supervise, mentor and act as a positive role model to Care Workers.
- Ensure that the actions of all staff directly supporting people using the service support their care, protection and well-being.
- Ensure staff have appropriate skills/training to meet service user need.
- Support and supervise the delivery of person-centred services to all people using the service.
- Assist in developing and delivering an appropriate induction programme for new Care Workers.
- Ensure appropriate inductions are arranged for new services.
- Take responsibility for regular recruitment activity ensuring adequate service levels.
- Assign care workers to customers, whilst working within the standards and requirements of the company.
- Accepting, allocating and processing referrals for new work efficiently.
- Ensure the promotion of participation and independence in order to facilitate the achievement of the best possible outcomes.
- Develop person centred plans for each person using the service.
- Manage and monitor systems for the administration of medication and of the assessment of risk of abuse, failure to protect and harm to self and others.
- Support people using the service to maintain family links if they so desire.
- Promote the protection of all individuals.
- Ensure regular contact is maintained with service users and or their representatives.
- Ensure concerns regarding vulnerable adults and children are reported without delay.
- Monitor and promote individual’s rights to expect and receive respect for their diversity, differences and preferences.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships to promote individual’s choice about their care and support.
- Attend networking events increasing own knowledge of the sector and identifying future trends.
- Liaise/build relationships with brokerage, LHB and hospital discharge units.
- Develop own knowledge and practice relative to continuous service improvement.
- Ensure all runs and working patterns meet the needs of the company, customer and care worker.
- Ensure adequate cover is available for sickness, absenteeism or holidays.
- Ensure all emergency on-call issues are dealt with effectively.
- Record all emergency calls and pass the information to appropriate parties.
- Participate in the out of hour’s service on a rota basis.
- Ensure efficient and effective rota management eliminating unnecessary travel and waiting time.
- Ensure mileage and distance travelled is monitored and recorded.
- Ensure ECM system is utilised and monitored appropriately.
- Assign and Manage I-Connect Phones.
- Prepare & validate Invoicing to local authorities where applicable.
- Ensure/chase support workers to submit timesheets adhering to deadline.
- Maintain and share evidence-based records and reports.
- Audit Files on a 6-monthly basis.
- Contribute toward the Inspection process and local authority monitoring.
- Contribute to the Quality Assurance process by regularly seeking feedback from staff.
- Work within the policies and procedures of ND Care and Support.
- Ensure that the service delivered is compliant with the required external regulatory standards.
- Ensure records are maintained to a high standard and meet compliance needs.
- Monitor and report on compliance with health, safety and security regulations and requirements.
- Contribute to the development of health, safety and security policies, procedures and practices.
- Promote and support the health and safety of both people using the service and support staff.
- Organise and facilitate quarterly care staff team meetings.
- Conduct annual performance appraisals for all Care Workers.
- Address poor performance including unacceptable absence following company disciplinary policy.
Main responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of the care team ensuring compliance and regulations are adhered to.
- Responsible for safeguarding vulnerable clients and acting on reports of safeguarding concerns.
- Responsible for compliance with all relevant legislation, processes, policies, and procedures.

- Responsible for the non-disclosure of any confidential information and/or trade secrets of the Company.
- Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and developing excellent working relationships with colleagues.
- Responsible for delivering exceptional levels of customer service.
- Responsible for communicating with people in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner at all times.
Educational/qualification attainments:
- QCF Level 3 or equivalent.
- Full UK Drivers License.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- 2 years’ experience working as a senior care worker (ideally in domiciliary/homecare).
- Confident in decision making.
- Excellent communication skills.
Personal qualities:
- Sympathetic.
- Person centred approach.
- Self starter with attention to prompt timekeeping.
- Approachable.
