New Directions Education are recruiting for Science Technicians, to cover temporary positions in Secondary Schools in South Wales. The roles available are long and short-term temporary, covering internal staff absences such as sickness or maternity. The working hours will be Monday-Friday, 8:30am β 3:30pm, term-time only.
Our clients are seeking applicants with excellent verbal and written communication, as the role will involve working closely with staff and students to support the Science department with the delivery of practical lessons. A relevant scientific qualification and previous experience working within a lab are essential. Applicants must have excellent knowledge of health and safety and be confident overseeing the storage and maintenance of apparatus and scientific equipment.
Job Specification:
New Directions Education recruits Science Technicians to assist the biology, physics and chemistry departments within schools across the UK. You will normally work within a team of Technicians helping carry out the following tasks:
- Setting up laboratories with the necessary equipment for the lesson ahead
- Checking and testing scientific equipment
- Helping the teacher with practical demonstrations
- Interacting with pupils
- Keeping a track on chemicals and solutions
- Organising apparatus used and making sure it is stored correctly
- Observing strict Health & Safety conditions
Candidates would ideally have a background in a school environment and have a qualification in biology, physics or chemistry to a degree (or equivalent) level.
